Nigeria’s Super Eagles has arrived Accra, Ghana, ahead of Monday’s WAFU Cup of Nations Tournament Group A clash with the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone.
The tournament, according to the Head coach of Super Eagles, Salisu Yusuf, is to prepare the team for next year’s African Nations Championship, CHAN.
The team, which arrived the country on Sunday night, immediately proceeded to the town of Takoradi by road for the match scheduled to kick off at 7.00pm Nigeria time.
Victory over the Leone Stars will take Nigeria into the tournament’s group phase contest as eight teams that survived the preliminary round, will be divided into two groups of four teams each.
Already, the host nation, Ghana and Guinea are among the teams that have qualified for the group phase, as Ghana defeated Gambia by a lone goal while Guinea beat Guinea Bissau, two- one.
Meanwhile, Mali will tackle Mauritania in Monday’s first match starting at 4.00pm Nigerian time.
